For many years people have anticipated the return of the Ford Ranger in North America after it soared to become the best-selling pickup truck in the compact sector between 1987 and 2004, and then was discontinued shortly after while other parts of the world were able to get their hands on a more rugged version. It has been officially announced that the Ranger is being brought back during 2018 with a 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine and 10 speed transmissions.

The Ranger is Back and Better Than Ever!

The 2019 Ford Ranger is Ford's eagerly awaited mid-size pickup return after a decade of being unavailable. This version has been optimized especially for drivers in North America and although it is a lot smaller than the F-150 making it better for those that want a smaller yet powerful modern vehicle it is available in SuperCarb which offers rear hinged doors and SuperCrew which has bigger doors, both available in one length that is yet to be released.

The outside of the vehicle is very similar to other pickup trucks having a separate bed and a masculine beefed up look. The FX package is more beefed than the other packages offering excellent specs for off roaders needing a vehicle that can make light work of all terrains. This package will include tyres that are knobbier for better grip and skid plates. You have the option of dressing up this package with LED headlights as well as taillights and special bed and puddle lamp lighting.

There's an extremely strong steel frame which makes up the initial form with one powertrain. The powertrain is a 4 cylinder 2.3 liter turbocharged paired with an automatic transmission boasting 10 speeds. Although the torque figures have not been released yet we do know that the turbo 4 is going to rival the V6.  The new Ranger is expected to be able to tow campers, ATV's and watercrafts with an optional Smart Trailer Tow to bring the drivers attention to any connections that are faulty.

As standard there will be rear wheel drive with the option of all wheel with gearing that is low range. All versions will have locking differentials as standard and the option for electronic locking differential unless you choose the FX off road version where it comes as standard.

Both of the styles will be available to seat a maximum of 5 passengers and include a Ford Sync 3 infotainment centre with an 8 inch touchscreen. They will also include the modern Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for tech pairing with Amazon Alexa who serves as your knowledgeable personal assistant. From the instrument cluster drivers can expect two LCD screens which show productivity giving drivers information in real time in addition to audio information and navigational instructions.

Passengers will be able to use and connect a maximum of 10 devices via wi-fi which is connected via the FordPass Connect. For music lovers there is also an option to add a Bang and Olufsen Play system.

You will be able to choose your 2019 Ranger in XL, XLT and Lariat trims, but the equipment on each level has not been released yet. There are also Chrome and Sport packages available depending on your preference as well as the FX2 and FX4 packages for off road driving. Each of the packages will have chunky tyres specifically created for off road driving, shock and suspension that can help you to breeze over any terrain and even a Terrain Managements system with Trail Control which is like cruise control leaving you free to manoeuvre over situations that would otherwise be tricky. The vehicle is controlled by a number of vehicle systems and split into 4 modes to tackle snow, ruts, mud, sand and grass.

All models come with excellent safety features including forward collision warning and auto emergency braking. The Lariat and XLT will have additional warnings for lane departure, rear park assist and blind spot monitors that can even keep an eye on anything you are towing. In the Lariat model drivers receive pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and an assist system for pre collision.
